Water Program

The EH staff ensures that drinking water supplies both public and private are bacteriologically, and chemically safe for human use and consumption. This is accomplished by the following.

Swimming Pools Program, Beaches/Lake Monitoring


Water Well Construction and Licensing

Brevard has been delegated responsibility for licensing of all wells less than 6" in diameter. This covers irrigation, potable, limited use, public supply and monitoring wells. This program ensures setbacks to hazards and sources of contamination are met and that appropriate well construction standards are followed. Top of Page


Limited Use Well Program

This program monitors construction, permitting, sampling. Licensure and enforcement of limited use public supply wells rules in Brevard. These wells are used by small business that provides potable water for public consumption in convenience stores, motels, strip malls, apartment complexes and other commercial operations.    Top of Page

Swimming Pools Program, Beaches/ Lake Monitoring

Swimming pools and bathing places are routinely inspected to reduce the transmission of waterborne illness and injuries to patrons. This program establishes a clear and comprehensive policy for reviewing plans, construction, and the modification of public swimming pools and bathing places. Routine inspections are conducted to assure compliance with the standards.   Top of Page

Super Act/ Dry Cleaning Solvent

These programs monitor potable well water in areas surrounding these facilities for potential and current contamination due to the leaking of tanks or spillage of the materials. The wells are sampled, characterized and GPS located at the time of the site visit.  The sample results are tracked and monitoring is performed as required.   Top of Page
