Water Well Construction and Licensing
Brevard has been delegated responsibility for licensing of all wells less than 6" in
diameter. This covers irrigation, potable, limited use, public supply and monitoring wells. This program ensures setbacks to hazards and sources of contamination are met and that appropriate well construction standards are followed.
Limited Use Well Program
This program monitors construction, permitting, sampling. Licensure and enforcement of limited use public supply wells rules in Brevard. These wells are used by small business that provides potable water for public consumption in convenience stores, motels, strip malls, apartment complexes and other commercial operations.
Swimming Pools Program, Beaches/ Lake Monitoring
Swimming pools and bathing places are routinely inspected to
reduce the transmission of waterborne illness and injuries to patrons. This
program establishes a clear and comprehensive policy for reviewing plans,
construction, and the modification of public swimming pools and bathing places.
Routine inspections are conducted to assure compliance with the standards.
Super Act/ Dry Cleaning Solvent
These programs monitor potable well water in areas surrounding these facilities for potential and current contamination due to the leaking of tanks or spillage of the materials. The wells are sampled, characterized and
GPS located at the time of the site visit. The sample results are tracked
and monitoring is performed as required.
