Onsite Sewage Treatment and Disposal Systems or Septic Program
This program permits and regulates and inspects, repairs of existing and installation of new septic, aerobic and performance based waste water disposal systems. All persons who install or repair a septic system must first obtain a permit and construct the system to meet the permits specific requirements. This ensures systems are installed and repaired in a manner that ensures reliability and reduces the chances of pollution of ground and surface waters. The main goal is to protect the public health by eliminating the potential for the spread of infectious disease, by protecting the ground and surface water from improperly built or maintained onsite sewage treatment and disposal systems.

IM/Commercial Operating Permits
All business who use on site waste water disposal system must obtain a permit to operate such systems. Inspections and permitting of these systems are required to protect community from pollution from these systems. 
Aerobic Treatment Units (ATU)/ Performance Based Systems Permitting Programs
Operating permits are required by these types of systems to assure proper maintenance and operation of the systems as they were permitted. Inspections are conducted to monitor proper operation and maintenance is being performed by the permit holders. 
One Stop Permitting
EHS is part of the One Stop Permitting process of the Brevard County Building Department. This process provides one stop permit review of building permits by many county agency?s all located in the Viera office.
