To ensure all newborns screened receive appropriate, high-quality laboratory and follow-up services.

Announcements:

Florida Department of Health Newborn Screening Program no longer requires birthing facilities to submit of the Quarterly Institutional Report.

Cystic Fibrosis:

Cystic Fibrosis--newest addition to Florida's panel of disorders screened.  Statewide screening began on 9/17/2007.

Specimen Validity Rule Change:

Effective February 26th, 2007, newborn screening specimens submitted with blood drawn 24 hours after birth and on protein feed for over 24 hours will be considered valid for testing. Previously, blood had to be drawn 48 hours after birth to be considered valid for testing.
