Learn how to eat healthy, be active, at Daytona Beach Library

French fries or Greek salad? Cheese curls or bicep curls? A box of Milk Duds or a glass of milk?
Learn how to make better food and activity choices by attending "Eat Healthy, Be Active," a four-part community workshop offered by the Volusia County Health Department at the Daytona Beach Regional Library – City Island, 105 E. Magnolia Ave.
The free workshop, led by Christina Roebling of the Volusia County Health Department, will consist of four classes from 6 to 7 p.m. on these Thursdays:
- June 7: "Healthy Living." This course introduction will include discussions on what you can do to live a healthier life.
- June 14: "Healthy Eating I." Learn about the importance of "your plate" and the small changes you can make in your diet to improve your health through the foods you eat.
- June 21: "Healthy Eating II." Learn how to read nutrition labels, modify recipes and make healthy choices when eating out.
- June 28: "Be Active." Learn safe and healthy ways to exercise, and learn how to build an activity plan and lose weight.
The workshop incorporates the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Choose My Plate program for healthy eating and is aimed at educating the public about eating healthier foods, becoming more physically active, and making small dietary changes that will lead to better health.
